Social-Emotional Learning and Skills

Social and emotional skills are a subset of transferable skills which allow children to become, adaptive learners and citizens equipped to navigate personal, academic, social and economic opportunities and challenges. These skills also support crisis-affected children to cope with trauma and build resilience in the face of adversity.

ASSA has been engaged in introducing this concept to school teachers and raising their awareness in terms of benefits with regards to investing in developing socio-emotional skills in children. Different socio-emotional activities have been piloted with students at risk of school dropout and other vulnerable kids in some schools in close collaboration with teachers and school psychologists. Actually, ASSA is engaged in developing a SEL curriculum/instructions and find ways on how it could be incorporated in classrooms and in school wide proactive and policies.
